Much bias to GTA clones and the like, but that was my gaming exposure when my PS2 was chipped and games were by the dollar pretty much. Spiderman 2 (ooh baby, hcrayert for days :P)ĭragon Ball Z Teknechi Budokai (is that how it's spelt?) Flying cars and Cars on water was awesome) -Ratchet gladiator (also up your arsenal was good too) -Need for speed:Most Wanted (underground and carbon is good too) -Stuntman (very underrated game imho, up there definitely) -Simpsons Hit and Run -Scarface: The world is yours -Ape Escape (cheesy entertainment, was great) -BMX XXX (jks, I had to snap the CD in half when my parents realized it wasn't age appropriate, I didn't know any better nor did I know what it was, so I didn't get any trouble.) -Tony Hawks underground (and 2 is good too, loved the story) -Sly 2 (loved the story and gameplay) GTA San Andreas (summary of the game: l1 l2 r1 r2 u d l r u d l r l1 l2 r1 r2 u d l r) -GTA Vice city (same franchise because it was legitimately good. In no particular order (background: played these titles during primary school) Instead, I will call them my honorable mentions and be done with it Of course, I have so many other games that are Top 10 material like Ape Escape 2/3, Katamari Damacy, God of War, Shadow Hearts, DQ V, Final Fatasy X/XII, GTA Vice City, Viewtiful Joe, Ratchet and Clank 1-3, Onimusha, God Hand - this can go on for quite awhile. Burnout Revenge - The only racing game that keeps me excited
Code Veronica is my favorite "classic style" re game while re 4 is the most memorable gameġ0. Resident Evil 4 / Code Veronica X - Again cannot choose. Devil May Cry - Either 1 or 3, I cannot choose. Capcom 2 - The best Street Fighter I ever played imoĨ. Yeah, Snake Eater was great and all but 2 really resonated with meħ. Metal Gear Solid 2 - This is not only my favorite MGS but it is probably the most underrated of the original three. Timesplitters 2 - A shooter that has tight controls and a whole lot of personality.Ħ. I have never spent so much time in one JRPG beforeĥ. SMT: Persona 4 - The other SMT worth a mention not because of its popularity but how good it is. The story and music are also amazing and is probably my favorite SMTĤ. SMT: Digital Devil Saga - This JRPG is set in one of the most unique worlds I have seen in gaming. It is simple fun and I like it for thatģ. Sly Cooper and the Thievius Racoonus - While Sly 2 is the best of the trilogy, I will always have lots of love for this game.
Dragon Quest VIII - Great classic JRPG that is the undoubtly one of the series' bestĢ. I will give you 10 in no particular order that are worthy of top 10:ġ. For Nippon Ichi fans who've beaten the latest Disgaea and want to see what else the company has done, or just those looking for a tactics game with a more punkish attitude, one could do far worse than sinking their teeth into the World Eaters' story.Just 10? That is a tough question for any PlayStation system (game libraries way too big). However, it's still a competently-made strategy RPG with some good map design, as well as a killer soundtrack that helps make up for its aged visuals. Soul Nomad is by no means a hidden masterpiece, and its oppressive aesthetics are certain to turn away many players.
While some may regard it as tastelessly edgy (and not without good reason), it's hard not to respect the effort that went into crafting an evil storyline that really does make the player feel like a monster. Long before games like Undertale and Fallout: New Vegas were popularizing the idea of having there be drastic consequences for making evil choices, Soul Nomad was allowing players to become a fully-fledged dark lord, complete with their own evil headquarters and opposing band of heroes. The Demon Path is an incredibly depressing tale, but it's also strangely ahead of its time in some respects.
